How do I become a member of the
Cape Fear River Rowing Club?

  • Send email to contactus@cfrrc.com and someone will contact you to answer your questions and assign you a member instructor.

  • The member Instructor will contact you and setup an appointment, generally on a weekend morning, to meet you at the rowing facility, currently located at Point Harbor Marina in Wilmington, NC.

  • When you meet with your instructor, you will be given an information packet which will include the following items:

    1. CFRRC membership application form

    2. Waiver of liability

    3. U.S. Rowing Association (USRA) application form

    4. CFRRC membership  rules

  • Once that you have decided that you want to become a member of the CCRRC you will be given a land lesson, allowing you to practice on a sliding seat prior to getting into a boat.

  • Once you have signed a CFFR/RSRA waiver form and have paid a non-refundable instructional fee of $60.00, you will then be scheduled to go out on the water with in a stable boat of the instructors choosing.

  • The next step in pursuing a full membership that will allow you to move into more challenging club boats, is joining the USRA so that the club insurance will cover your activities while rowing on the river.

  • Upon completion of lessons, when you and your instructor feel comfortable with your knowledge of rowing a boat on the Cape Fear River and your understanding of club procedures and Safety, you will be issued a set of keys to the boats that will allow you to row on your own schedule.

  • As a member of the Cape Fear River Rowing Club you will have access to a range of boats which will enable you to develop your rowing skills. Experienced club members and outside coaches are available for additional instruction either at club functions or at your request. Information will be posted quarterly on this site that will keep you informed of club events, regional regattas and member news.
