If you have never rowed before, you must take our Learn to Row class before joining the club.  This will introduce you to the proper technique in both sweep rowing (one oar per person) and sculling (two oars per person). Classes consist of four, three-hour morning sessions, on consecutive weekends.

Some summer classes consist of three, two-hour evening sessions then two, three-hour morning sessions the following weekend. The classes are conducted at the club’s boathouse and dock located at the Wilmington Marine Center, 3410 River Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.

For safety purposes, class size is limited to five students per session.

The class itself is not designed to be physically strenuous, however you must have a reasonable level of fitness to participate. Students must be able to help carry the boat overhead (about 35-40 pounds) and perform a full squat in order to get into and out of the boat. Students must also be able to swim.
